March 25, 2025The Pushkar Singh Dhami government has successfully completed three years of dedicated service, good governance, and development. During this period, significant steps have been taken to empower farmers and boost agricultural prosperity in Uttarakhand. With the vision of strengthening the agricultural sector, multiple initiatives have been launched to enhance productivity, provide financial support, and create employment opportunities.
Key Agricultural Initiatives and Achievements
Expansion of Apple Farming
Apple farming has received a major boost with an increased budget allocation from ₹4 crore to ₹35 crore. This initiative aims to promote high-density apple orchards, ensuring better yield and improved quality. Additionally, it is expected to generate 50,000 new employment opportunities for the people of Uttarakhand.
Cluster-Based Polyhouse Scheme
To modernize and strengthen farming techniques, the government has allocated 12.18 lakh square meters for the establishment of 14,777 polyhouses. This initiative will enhance agricultural output and create 1 lakh jobs in the state.
Horticulture Research Center
A Center of Excellence is being developed in Chaukhutia to support horticulture research and innovation. The government has sanctioned ₹671.62 lakh for this project, which aims to improve farming techniques and increase productivity.
Beekeeping Promotion
To encourage honey production and support rural employment, the subsidy for beekeeping boxes has been doubled to ₹750 per unit. This will benefit farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs engaged in apiculture.
Jayka Project
The government has sanctioned ₹526 crore under the Jayka Project to promote industrial growth in Uttarakhand. This initiative will pave the way for modernized industries and economic expansion in the state.
Tea Tourism Development
Recognizing the potential of tea cultivation and tourism, the government is investing in Champawat, Ghorakhal, and Kosi Katarmal to develop infrastructure for tea tourism. This initiative will not only boost Uttarakhand’s tea industry but also attract tourists to explore the region’s rich tea culture.
PMFME Scheme
Under the PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, 812 food processing units have been established. This initiative aims to support local farmers, create self-employment opportunities, and strengthen the food supply chain in Uttarakhand.
